Accessibility
Our approach
We want The Space to work for as many people as possible, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, or their voice, and people who want plainer wording. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We check our work ourselves, by hand, including with the NVDA screen reader. We have not had an outside accessibility audit.
In the app
- Dictation everywhere. Every text box has a microphone, so you can speak instead of typing.
- Hands-free. Say where you want to go and The Space takes you there: any area, tool, practice, or article.
- Talk out loud. You can have the whole conversation out loud, with a written transcript to follow along.
- Listen instead of read. Still Space and Settle Together practices can be read aloud by a narrator, in English or Spanish.
- Simplified mode. Plainer wording and shorter replies in the chat, the Almanac, and Still Space.
- Larger reading text in the Almanac, Still Space, Companion Reading, and The Relational Almanac.
- Less motion. The app follows your device's reduce-motion setting.
- Screen readers and keyboards. The app is tested with the NVDA screen reader and works fully by keyboard.
- Two languages. The Space is available in English and Spanish.
- Leave now. One tap leaves The Space for a neutral website. It is always on screen.
On this website
Each page on rheoslabs.com is ordinary page text with headings, so a screen reader can move from section to section. Every link and the beta sign-up form can be used with a keyboard, and every field on the form has a label. Our policies are also available en español.
Tell us about a problem
If something in The Space or on this website doesn't work for you, please tell us. Email contact@rheoslabs.com or call (575) 651-1854. It helps to know what you were trying to do, what happened, and, if you are comfortable sharing, the device and any assistive technology you use. We read every message and will reply. We are a small company, so a fix can take time, but every report is taken seriously.
